However, this is cheating a bit because many words start with “Christmas” and are followed by terms such as Eve, Day, and Dinner. In addition, though many word phrases begin with C, plenty of words are available that do not start with Christmas but are related to the festive holiday.
Here’s a list of Christmas words that start with the letter C, including their meanings:
Cakes
A sweet dessert made with a mixture of fat, eggs, sugar, flour, and other ingredients is baked. Sometimes cakes are iced and decorated, especially for Christmas Day.
Example: The cakes were baked and decorated for the upcoming cakewalk at the Christmas party.
Camaraderie
Having mutual trust and friendship among people you spend a lot of time with, such as a group of friends.
Example: We love celebrating our camaraderie and getting together every Christmas to go caroling.
Camels
Large, long-necked mammals, typically from an arid country with one or two humps on their backs, including the ones the Three Kings rode the night baby Jesus was born.
Example: The Three Kings rode to Bethlehem on camels to welcome the newborn baby Jesus.
Candlelight
A dim light provided by the flickering glow of candles, such as light in the room at Christmas dinner, was produced by candles.
Example: She walked the hallway of her home by candlelight to try to sneak up on Santa Claus.
Candles
A cylinder or block of molded wax with a central wick can be lit to produce light, such as the tradition of displaying candles in windows during Christmastime.
Example: Back in the day, they used to put candles on Christmas trees, which became a fire hazard, and that is why we now use strands of lights.

Example: We made sure to hang our stockings with care because we didn’t want our presents to fall off the mantle and into the fireplace.
Carousel
A merry-go-round at a fair and a traditional Christmas gift for children in the late 1800s to early 1900s.
Example: We had so much fun riding the carousel during the Christmas festival we spent all of our money to continue riding it until the end of the event.
Caroler
A person who goes out during Christmas caroling or singing holiday songs to spread joy and cheer.
Example: The carolers were already out and about strolling the streets of downtown spreading their joy and singing everyone’s favorite Christmas carols.
Caroling
The activity of going around singing Christmas carols from door to door.
Example: This year, we went caroling after enjoying some hot cocoa and Christmas cookies when the town’s tree was lit downtown.
Carve
Cut up to produce smaller pieces, such as carving the turkey or Christmas ham.
Example: Dad started sharpening the knives, which meant he was about to carve the turkey, and we would enjoy Christmas dinner.
Chapel
A small building or dedicated room is used for Christian worship, which can be set in a school, hospital, or large private home and can be the place to gather for Christmas celebrations.
Example: Our family dressed up and ready to go to the chapel for this year’s Christmas service.
Cathedral
The principal church to which the bishop is typically attached.
Example: Everyone in the community gathered at the cathedral for Midnight Mass.
Celebration
The action of honoring or celebrating an important day or event.
Example: Christmas is always a time of celebration in our family, and we ensure we are always together.
Charity
Usually, an organization is set up to help assist and raise money for needy people; most of these organizations host toy drives during the Christmas season.
Example: We always love donating or volunteering our time at a local charity every Christmas to help others in need.
Charm
Being attractive or having an attractive characteristic or feature, such as the alluring nature of the holiday decorations.
Example: Our town has so much charm, especially when all the shops and buildings in the downtown square are decorated for Christmas.

An uncomfortable and unpleasant cold temperature, especially during winter.
Example: It was starting to get chilly out, so we pulled out our ugly sweaters to wear on Christmas Day.
Chimney
The vertical pipe or channel directs the smoke up from the fireplace and out of the home through the roof.
Example: Before going to bed on Christmas Eve, we ensured all our stockings were hung from the chimney so Santa could fill them.

A structure used for public Christian worship and is where Midnight Mass is held.
Example: We all hung around the church after Midnight Mass to see what everyone had planned for the rest of the Christmas holiday
Cinnamon
A spice that creates a strong aroma made from the peeled, dried, rolled bark of an Asian tree.
Example: I love the smell of cinnamon, and it always reminds me that Christmas is here.
Cloves
A dried tropical tree flower bud is often used as an aromatic spice.
Example: I love the smell of cloves, especially when cooked on our Christmas ham.
Cocoa
A powder from roasted and ground cacao seeds can make cookies, cakes, or hot beverages.
Example: My favorite Christmas memory is sitting by the fire, sipping hot cocoa, and reading a new book.
Cold
At a low temperature compared to the average human body temperature, such as a cold winter’s night.
